London Basketball Site Live

Putney Basketball is pleased to announce that a dedicated site for all London Basketball is now live at LondonBasketball.com

The site aims to support basketball across London. We hope in time to foster the growth of a truly competitive basketball league for the city. Basketball is poorly represented in the UK in general and it is largely thanks to the efforts of small local clubs that there exists any active basketball. Just think that when the Olympic qualifying games were happening it was near impossible to watch a match or find any information in the mainstream media.

Will clubs London wide working together we can change this. We look forward to hearing from you at LondonBasketball.com

Chelsea Academy Basketball - Update

Great run last week. Thanks to everyone for their efforts.

There is NO Chelsea game this week (20th October). The Academy is being used for other purposes. We will be back at Chelsea from the 27th October and then on through the rest of the year. At the moment we are planning the last session at Chelsea to be the 15th Dec 2011 after which we will break for Christmas returning in January.

New Venue, Chelsea Academy Thursday 6th Oct

After a lot of searching we have a new home for the Thursday session. We have agreed to use the gym at the Chelsea Academy in Fulham / Chelsea. The sessions start THIS Thursday (6^th October) so get signed up fast. All the details are available on www.slinn.org and the sessions are loaded onto TeamSnap.

As advised when we were offered this venue its more than we pay now so we will need to charge £8 for the hour. All the usual rules apply.

Wandle Centre & Dec Options

I have had a couple of people ask me about the location for the Tuesday session. We are going to be staying at the Wandle in Wandsworth centre so please ignore any reference to Roehapmton (better still let me know where you find any such reference). I have updated teamsnap accordingly.

On the no shows we seem to be building quite a list. Please can those of you on the list clear your names with a direct payment.

The last Tuesday session this year is scheduled to run on the 13^th December. We do have an option to take a spot on the 20^th put I will need committed people to do that. Could those that are interested in the 20^th Dec reply to this tread or email me.

I no immediate update on Chelsea but hope to have that sorted this week.

Beer! PBC Night Out This Friday 9th Sep

Just a reminder that we are all heading to the pub this Friday (tomorrow) for what I hope will be a great night. The last outing arranged by Brezo was a huge success so get involved this time if you missed that one.

We start at the Boat House in Putney. Its down by the river behind the church. Aim to be there for 7pm. You can email Jon or Simon for directions if you get really lost...

Ladies Basketball

I have been asked a number of times over the year about ladies basketball in the Wandsworth area. We don't run a ladies session ourselves but we are aware of a session on Tuesday nights at the Wandle Centre. If anybody has contact details please let us know and we will post them on the site.

Thursday Sessions Back On

An update on the situation with venues. I am pleased to say that our Tuesday session is now back on from next Tuesday 30^th Aug 2011 at the Wandle Recreation centre. The details and maps are available on Team Snap. Come and sign up now for next Tuesday.

Thursday remains cancelled. That includes tonight (25^th Aug 2011). I am not willing to risk the rain issue any further. We are working on finding a new venue for Thursday and I am grateful for all the help received in this area.

A note on pricing. From Tuesday next week we will need to increase the fees slightly as Wandle is more expensive and we will start to run at a regular loss if rates are not changed. Tuesday will now be £6 and Thursday £7. Walk-ups are to be charged £1 extra and the under 21 fee will rise to £4 for both Tuesday and Thursday.

Moving Facilities

After continuing problems with the rain at Roehampton we will be moving to other facilities as soon as possible. In the interim all sessions have been cancelled. Please watch this site and Team Snap for announcements.
